Amateur film, incorporating earlier footage made as topical for a local cinema. Original 1922 film on 35mm never discovered. BW sequences taken from 1922 film, colour shot *1939. See also ref. 1662 for slightly different edited version of sequence from (0.55) to (1.47).
Donated by Paddy Black's daughter who was the wife of James S Nairn, cinema manager and film maker.

In the year 1906 the late Superintendent, while holding meetings in the back courts of Glasgow, was so touched by the large numbers of poor children playing about those confined and unhealthy places, that he appealed to the parents to throw him money from their windows so that he could give their children a day in the country. The parents responded so well that he was enabled to take 250 children for a day's outing and so started the first Mission Trip (.45); The late Superintendent Paddy Black.
