Description:
Using family photographs, films, newspaper articles, news footage and interviews - Looking for Mr. Rogers, a three screen documentary charts the history of Castlemilk. Castlemilk was one of Glasgow's satellite housing schemes, built to relieve the problems of the city's overcrowded slums. Planned in the 40s and built during the early 50s, the first residents were delighted with their new homes but soon discovered the estate had few amenities. By the mid 70s, Castlemilk was facing serious problems. In "Looking for Mr. Rogers", we have the buildings, streets and footpaths of Castlemilk mapped out in this innovative and very watchable document of it's history. These pictures move like heavy traffic behind intimate talking portraits. The film comprises a three screen projection with the help of local residents, historians and filmmakers.
