Description: Sequence and trim footage from a Grampian Television piece featuring the Beatles playing the Caird Hall, Dundee on 20th October 1964. Features some footage of the band and support acts playing on stage [mute], and crowds of fans but mostly interviews with June Shields.

The concert took place on 20th October 1964. Footage would have been edited and broadcast on 23rd October 1964. [Date on original can label 23/10/64.]

The support acts on the tour were The Rustiks, Sounds Incorporated, Michael Haslam, The Remo Four, Tommy Quickly and Mary Wells, and the compère was Bob Bain. Prior to the first concert, The Beatles gave an interview to June Shields for Grampian Television. The television crew also filmed scenes from around the venue, including The Beatles on stage, for a five-minute item broadcast at 6.10pm on 23 October 1964. "You've travelled so many miles, do you ever forget where you are?" They reply, with amusement, that they are in 'Cake' (referring to Dundee Cake?). June comments they are the idols of so many, do they have any idols of their own? George replies that he doesn't like anyone. Paul comments "American coloured groups, mainly". June then asks for a message for the Aberdeen fans. John gives an incomprehensible message in 'Scottish' on camera (1.37) -blank- (1.45) [film countdown leader] (1.56) [mute] crowds of fans, old and young, gather outside the Caird Hall. A few policemen look on (2.18) [sound] gvs Beatles and others sitting around waiting room. Ringo waves to camera, Paul points (2.38) further i/v with June Shields. She asks if they know where they were this time last week, but gets the reply that they don't even know what day it is! They acknowledge they were in Edinburgh the night before. June comments on the story that when they were in America it was forecast they would all die in a plane crash, and they reply they knew all about that story even before it came to the UK. Paul comments 'everyone was stoned, even the Captain!'. June moves on to talk about the Royal Command Performance and why they did not take part. Reasons given were it clashed with gigs in Ireland and that they didn't recall even being asked . June asks John if screaming fans get on his nerves, it has been reported that he shouts at them to shut up. This leads to the question 'Do you ever wake up screaming?' Talk turns to the fact Ringo has passed his driving test recently, and the new car he has bought. Are the Beatles making any films? They reply yes (February) (5.09) -black- (5.11) [mute] gvs screaming crowds of schoolgirls, c/u faces (5.19) unid. band on stage - two young men. Cut to audience (seated) clapping and dancing in their seats (6.22) [mute] Mary Wells performing (7.06) another band on stage [Remo Four?]. Compère Bob Bain introduces headliners to a screaming crowd (7.47) [mute] Beatles on stage. George and Paul singing to mic 'That's What I Want' [from the song 'Money']. Shot of Ringo playing drums. Cut to crowd, one girl in particular in a frenzy of screaming happiness (9.08) shot of girl being led along corridor (9.23) [sound] further i/v [very rough] John comments to June 'Have you heard the joke about the deaf queer'. June says 'Think we ought to leave it that please'..
